Subaru has announced that its second hybrid model will be joining its range in Japan, and this time it’s more sports-orientated.
The JDM Impreza Sport Hybrid will keep its trademark 2.0-litre boxer engine, but will also incorporate battery packs mounted under the boot floor to boost mpg figures to a claimed real-life 48mpg using Japan’s testing methods.
The car will act as a face-lifted version of the current Japanese Impreza, with tweaks to the front splitter and headlights creating a very appealing looking hybrid indeed.
It seems only a matter of time until we see an STI-badged hybrid sports car cropping up from the left-field brand. Let’s just hope that when it does happen, Subaru is generous enough to export it to different markets, too!
