It’s been confirmed this week that Portuguese driver António Félix da Costa will leave Team Aguri to join Andretti Autosport for the 2016/17 season.
Working alongside Andretti regular Robin Frijns means that Formula E’s only female star, Simona de Silvestro’s seat is yet to be confirmed for next season.
Shining on through rotten luck
da Costa showed promise in last season’s racing despite using the 2014/2015 powertrain and with a spate of bad luck, constantly keeping his cool to reach eight in the overall standings.
“To join Andretti Formula E is a big thing for me,” he commented. “I have always loved the way Americans go racing, and how they do sports in general. I’m a big fan of IndyCar and, to me, Andretti Autosport has always been an iconic team. To finally be able to say that I’m joining and racing for this amazing team and family is a big deal. We have a great team in place, the MS Amlin car looks good and the people around me are super professional. I’m ready to get the season started.”
Season three
Testing for the 2016/17 season commences at Donington Park, UK takes place around 23 August – 7 September, with the first race held in Hong Kong on 9 October.
