Think ‘electric car’, and unfortunately the stigma of a slightly odd, left-field appliance driven by a slightly too eco-conscious geography teacher sadly still remains strong at the start of 2016.
What we’ve been dreaming for here at EV Performance (and we’re sure you have been for some time, too), is something more… normal. A car which doesn’t shout about its alternative power delivery, but instead just gets on with the job of being awesome and putting its rivals to shame.
We weren’t expecting it, but the answer may have just arrived from none other than Chevrolet. The all-new Bolt hatchback stands out because, well… it doesn’t stand out!
Looking like any other self-respecting modern small car, the Bolt has a few tricks up its sleeve. The floor-mounted batteries mean its rather high-roofed appearance needn’t put any worry in your mind about handling performance. Neither will the powerplant, which offers up 0-60mph in around 7 seconds. Oh, and its range could be up to a whopping 200 miles – double that of the Nissan Leaf.
What’s not to like? Well, the fact it may never be officially sold in the UK, we guess…
