Poor Antonio Felix da Costa.
He’d just received a shock pole position for the upcoming Long Beach race, but according to a statement just in from Team Aguri, his tyre pressures were below regulations post-qual, leaving Sam Bird in the hot seat.
Here’s what Aguri had to say:
“We can confirm that Antonio Felix da Costa has been disqualified from qualifying for the Long Beach ePrix due to a discrepancy of tyre pressures, and will therefore start the race from the back of the grid.
“We are naturally disappointed, as this mistake did not provide any performance gains during the qualifying run, but we accept the FIA’s decision nonetheless. We have once again shown the potential of our car and will now push to recover some points in the race.”
