Nissan EVs now account for over 550 taxis on European soil, according to figures. The news comes as a green taxi firm in Budapest has just received an order of 65 Leafs to silently roam the city.
The figures are made up of both the aforementioned Leaf and the e-NV200 electric van, and the countries to top the charts are the Netherlands and the UK (see table below).
With taxis known to rack up some serious mileage and wear and tear throughout their lives, we can’t think of a better way to prove these EV’s worth to the masses.
Gareth Dunsmore, Director of Electric Vehicles for Nissan Europe, said: “We are so proud to be announcing this all-important milestone. Nissan has already delivered 30 percent more e-taxis this year than in 2014 and this figure is constantly increasing, as more taxi companies realise the benefits of becoming 100 percent electric.”
