Back in September, the car world went nuts for Thunder Power’s shock new range of electric cars at the Frankfurt Motor Show. We decided to delve a little deeper and find out some more about this relatively new Taiwanese firm’s first car, due to be released in 2017…
Phrases like ‘European design’ and ‘Italian styling’ are an instant hit in our eyes, and the Sedan doesn’t disappoint. It’s hard to disagree that this mid-sized saloon is a bit of a looker, with that signature Zagato front grille setting of some seriously tasty curves throughout the rest of the car.
Apparently, over five years of research has gone into the car’s engineering to ensure it matches the rivals in terms of performance and range when released. This means we see figures such over 400 miles from a full charge, 186 miles from a mere 30 minute charge and 0-62mph in under five seconds. Think Tesla performance, then, in what promises to be a much more agreeable price package…
Inside, Thunder Power’s frankly gorgeous, wooden-clad ‘TP-Touch’ infotainment system brings all the latest cutting-edge driver tech that we’ve become used to with EVs. This all-in-one software incorporates the instrument cluster plus all of the entertainment services on-board – enough to leave even KITT from Knight Rider red-faced.
Oh, and in case all of this futuristic goodness isn’t enough to get your pulse racing, there’s also a ‘Race’ version in the pipeline, which should be interesting…
